MLCC Activities

The Mountain Lions has developed operating procedure for supported events including practices, races, rides, and other gatherings.  The MLCC will apply NICA, MICL, federal, state, county, and local regulations, and best practices to ensure the safety of riders, coaches, and parents at all times.  Key parts of the SOP are listed on this page.   Click the link to see the MLCC Activity SOP.

Masks/Face Coverings and Social Distancing
When engaged in MLCC activities including arrival, team-led practices, and pick-up, riders, coaches, and parents will maintain a minimum social distance of 6 feet for those that are not within their family group.  At this time, masks/face coverings are required
during all MLCC practices, rides, and events.
Due to this requirement, the MLCC will not host or support events during times that meet the heat index red and orange conditions outlined by the National Weather Service.

No-Contact Rider Registration:
Returning MLCC riders can register via the Pit Zone link provided by email and can complete all necessary documents via the online process.  New riders for the 2020 season that would like to take advantage of the one-time “Try it Out” practice should complete the online waiver found on the MLCC website and bring a signed copy with them.  MLCC will staff a rider registration table during events to speak with riders and parents and to receive appropriate documentation.  Upon request, new 2020 riders will also receive the Pit Zone registration link.

Required Equipment:
All riders are required to carry the following equipment to all practices and rides:
  • Mask/face covering
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Full finger cycling gloves
  • Spare tube for their wheel size
  • Tube repair patch kit
  • Tire levers
  • Hand bike pump
  • Basic cycling multi tool
  • Water (2 bottles or equivalent)
  • Helmet

RSVP
Coaches and riders must RSVP in SignUpGenius for each practice and ride in order to maintain the required group size.  Group sizes are limited as follows:
●      No less than two and no more than eight riders
●      2-6 riders:  One Level 2 or 3 coach
●      7-8 riders:  One Level 2 or 3 coach plus an additional coach of any level

Signups will be sent to the team each week.  RSVP opens on Sunday 9 AM and will closes Tuesday evening at 5 PM.  We request that any cancellations be made as early as possible so that another rider may claim a spot if possible.

Drop off / Pick-Up

All parents, coaches, and riders will be expected to wear masks/face coverings (buffs, bandanas) upon arrival at drop off and pick-up. We ask that parents remain in the vehicle and have the rider bring their equipment and themselves to the staging area. To limit exposure during events, we are not permitting “free riding” before and after practices in the practice areas.

Riders and coaches must meet in their designated areas prior to start times.  To limit exposure between groups, riders must remain within their designated areas before and during practices.  Drop off and pick areas will be established and published in advance of team events.

All riders are responsible to ensure that they arrive ready to practice.  This includes required equipment, all necessary water, appropriate tire air pressure, and a lubricated chain.  The MLCC will not provide shared equipment or water for use by athletes or coaches.  This includes bike pumps, chain lubricant, and other consumable gear.  Riders are encouraged to purchase a bike floor pump or a pressure gauge to determine appropriate tire pressure and to avoid mechanical failure during practices and rides.
